ACPI in Linux 30 July, 2008

Posted by aronzak in Linux.

Interesting developments are surfacing about Foxconn and ACPI. It appears that the BIOS in some Foxconn boards actively chaecks what OS is running, and if it is windows then it sends a good set of DSDL tables, and if it is Linux then it sends (possibly deliberately) corrupt tables such that Linux gets wierd kernel errors when it restarts. Following the process, I have noted similar differences with Linux being sent another table package. I’m going to play around with it some more for now.
